Stella Visits the Vet!

Hi all you pups and kitties!

Its me, Stella!  Last week I had to go to the vet for a checking up.  I got some shots and some blood taken out and except for one thing, I am pretty healthy!  Here is some arithmetic I learned at the vet.

This, plus

 this, equals

 THIS!

My new vet said NO MORE TREATZ and only 1/2 cup of kibble
twice a day!  He says I have to bite the bullet and just do it.
So my Mom has been following orders, and just gives me half a cup of kibble morning and night, she can add a few green beans and a very small amount of turkey meat.  It hasn't been too hard to do because it is SOOOO hot.  Once it cools off a little we will start our walkies again, but for the last two weeks it has just been too hot.

A few of us went on a diet a year or more ago, and I lost some pounds but I gained it back.

Anyone who has any ideas to share with me, I'd be glad to listen!  I will report back to you once a week and I'd be glad for anyone to join me!

Kisses,
Your Chubby Pal Stella

Dear Stella, we feel your pain! Holly has been on a never ending diet for a year now! She has actually grown used to it although not happy with it. She loves treats so much! Hang in there...you can do it!! Lots of love, Debbie & Holly

Stella, I was instructed to loose 10 #!! Can you believe it?? Something about sore joints and easier movement. Sheesh!! I eat 1 C. twice a day and a couple of treats. What else can I cut out?? (oh, and then there's those nights that mom works and dad gives us all sorts of stuff - bbq'd pork and teryaki chicken from the chinese restaurant, cheep canned food - YUMMM!! sshhhhh)

I'd actually be happy to join in with you. Especially when it gets cooler!

Diet doesn't sound like fun, Stella, but your vet is doing it for your good health. 1/2 cup sure doesn't sound like much, but we only get 3/4-1 cup twice a day too. Guess it all depends on what you feed too. TD and Ciara like green beans and we all LOVE turkey. Good luck with the diet. And we know all about the "no walks" heat:(

Diets stink, but several of us have had to do it. Lucy lost 14 pounds, Sky lost 10 and now Noah is losing weight. We all feel so much better after we lose the weight. Now we can run and play again. Stick to it and you'll be glad you did.

Tsar says to tell you he only eats three or four days a week.

Say, you sure know how to sweet-talk a girl, don't you Bobby?

I doubr that Pip would stay on a diet for more than a day. But she is welcome to try.

Ugh, I have been on prescription low fat food for a few years and haven't lost an ounce. My mom thinks it is because I am not very active, but it is too hot for much activity!

Good luck with your diet!

Your pal, Pip

Half a cup of kibble? The horror! What will become of you. I get green beans too, right out of the freezer! Nommy.

Hi Stella Up Over, wow half a cup of kibble. How cruel and unjust. My mum said my angel sissy Kara (a cocker spaniel) looked liked a coffee table at her best hehehe. She was always told to lose weight but mum didn't have the heart. A bit of cooked plain rice, pasta or grated carrot in with the kibble might fill the tummy but not add weight. Good luck. No worries, and love, Stella

You had me worried there for a minute with the "except one thing" report. I'm glad that the one thing is fixable. You can do it Stella - you are so tough that I'm sure you'll be svelte very soon!

We watch the weights of our dogs very closely. A favorite little treat that we give them is small pieces of fruit when we're snacking on fruit - a blueberry, or a small piece of peach - our dogs love it! Maybe you will too! Start with only a tiny bit because my vet says that some dogs get upset tummies from too much fruit.

I'm glad that your checkup was good besides that.

I see that it's now 70 deg there - at least that's a decent sleeping temperature! I'm rooting for cooler weather!

HALF A CUP of kibble?!! That sounds like starvation rations! How much weight do you need to lose? When we gain a little, mama just cuts back a little on the kibble until we get back in balance, but she never cuts our food by 50% - 75%! Maybe you can lose all the weight while it's still hot - there's still all of August and half of September to go. Good luck, Miss Stella!

Isn't that just the most awful thing any vet can tell you - they should ban that word. Mine told me the same thing :(

Stella, it's SO OBVIOUS, you need to come to Scotland, and Gail and I will take you for lots of walks in the hills and we can chase around together to our hearts' content and the weather is NEVER too hot..

Oh Stella, sorry you need to diet but my nonna only gives us 1/2 cup kibble twice a day anyway. I wonder if she thinks im fat? Well, if I lost 14 pounds I would disappear!
I think you look beautiful, but I am sure you will feel better. Just eat it slower or play with your stuffies when you need to take your mind off of it all.

Guess what...yesterday Cowboy stole CC's cupcake! It was soooooo funny and she was sooooo mad! Teenagerpeeps! Whachagonnadowithem?

Hope you get lots of huggs!

Stella, you are beautiful right now...we want to encourage you to diet so that you stay healthy. Quinn has to watch his diet because of his pancreatitis and his hip arthritis so he gets the same diet you are on...and only 2 pieces of duck jerky as treats (it is lowfat). He says he would be glad to be your pace dog.

Stella, you are super super-shiny in your picture! Sorry about the DIET news. These pesky V-E-Ts are always trying to spoil our fun, but my AABs are convinced that they "know what's best" for us.

PS--Headbumps and extra purrs to Ali Z!
