A change in the weather!

Stella here:  It went from pretty nice weather, right back to that nasty snow!  But look!  Dave the Mailman has been here today, thats a plus, isn't it?

But who hasn't been here?  One look at the bird feeder and you can tell.

Its been a rough winter for this little suet feeder.  The squirrels are rough on whatever they want.

We have a little suet cake for these birdies and we will fix up the feeder and get them squared away.

We used to make our own but sometimes they are on special and its worth it to get two for the price of one!

So what are we gonna do?  Fix the feeder and fill it.

While we are more interested in making the birds happy with this fatty stuff. You can be sure the squirrels will get their share too!

Pretty soon it will be time to put some orange halves on the trees and attract some of those Beautiful Baltimore Orioles.  We used to have a couple of pair that came to nest in the tall trees but we had a bad storm that knocked some trees down and took their nests with them.  The Orioles got mad and moved some place where things were more dependable.

Me and my Mom love the birds.  Zkhat just sits at the window and twitches when she sees them.

Is it nice where you are?

Kisses,
Stella

Here in Denver, CO., it is going to be 70 degrees today. Just in time for spring. We have had a very mild and dry winter down on the plains, but a huge amount of snow, over 500 inches in the high mountains.

I like to feed birds too. This year we went through 40 of those cake thingys. There is a little left in 2 of the cages..
Squirrels are sooooo greedy aren't they?

I bet Ali-Z loves them too, but for a different reason!
We can buy squirrel feeders here. We has an endangered type and people like to try and spot them and help them out as well as the birds.

Oh Stella! It's in the 70's in L.A. this week. We've had a lot of rain tis year wich is really good, but we're enjoying our sunshine. The doves and quail are coming around, but they're not as visible as they will be in a month or so. Mom loves Eva Cassidy. Last time we visited you she downloaded a whole bunch of Eva's songs. Thanks!!

It is not nice here yet, Stella. We have had 8 days in a row with some sort of precipitation and it has not been warm by Springtime standards. Soon we hope.

We think the birds will be very happy with that suet cake and the oranges too.

No, it's cold and damp here. It's been raining on and off for a couple days. We can't stay out and play for very long because we get so wet.

Where did spring go?

We just talked to our sissy in SoCal who says it is extremely hot there - it is extremely rainy here!! You're lucky to have some snow.

We have trees flowering and birdies making nests and daffodils bobbing bright yellow heads. It is so nice of you to think of the feathered ones...we hope your weather gets warm enough that you can lie outside and watch them flit around!

Whoa Stella - you're having the kind of weather that we've been having all week. It's snowed almost every night but then it melts by afternoon. Today, the wind is howling with gusts up to 75 mph. I think that March is leaving like a Lion.

I did, however, see my first Pasqueflowers today. They're wild crocuses, and they make me sing! They somehow survive our usually huge spring storms...

I'm glad that you're taking care of the birdies!
