Its About Time!

Hello Evfurry Body!

We have been pretty lazy about blogging for quite a while, but you know when the snow is up to your knees, and the temperature is sub-zero you don't want to do much except hang around the house where its warm, reading books and watching movies!

Do you know Sue of the Portuguese Water Dog Blog?  She and my Mom are good pals and Sue is always coming up with something good in the doggy cookie department.  So she finally put my Mom to shame with her stinky little Milk Bone treatz and my Mom visited a site that Sue mentioned that has lots of dog treat recipes on it.  It is the Doggy Dessert Chef blog .  She looked around until she found Ham and Cheese Dog Biscuits and cooked them up by this recipe:

Ham and Cheese Dog Biscuits

1 cup ham, cooked and chopped
1/2 cup shredded cheddar
1 1/4 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup milk
1 T. wheat germ (omitted, did not have!) Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Allow cheese to be at room temperature and in a large bowl combine all ingredients until mixed.  Roll out to 1/2 " thick, cut into shape with cutter of choice, lay on ungreased cookie sheets and bake for 15 to 20 minutes.  Cool and refrigerate.  (Mom note:  I don't like rolling dough, so I used my smallest disher (one inch), which gave me a nice little ball, and I pressed that out with a floured cup bottom!  This gave me about 3 dozen 50 cent size cookies which is just perfect for Stella.Don't you agree? I don't always feed her by hand except if I want a picture, I have to, or she would grab her cookie and take it to her treat place.

While its still Mom's turn, I want to ask how many of you read Derfwad Manor (lowering the bar for women everywhere)  It is so funny to me, I get lots of laughs out of this blog and think that you might too.

Thanks for reading, evfurry buddy and I will tell you those ham and cheese cookies are plenty good!

Kisses,
Stella, Ali Zophia and Mom

Oh yes, we know Sue, Tsar, Morgan and all those Porties - she and her husband are always whipping up something good for those pups. These treats sound really good and easy too. Thanks for sharing - now to get the Momster to make them.

We don't know Derfwad Manor, but we think Mom could surely use a few good laughs. We will see if she wants to go visit.

Stay warm.

Aren't homemade cookies the best? Yours sound yummy. That site has so many good recipes. We think we want gingerbread cookies next.

Stella is one lucky pup, getting homemade cookies made special for her! Poor K has her chronic pancreatitis so she's allowed only very bland kibble as treats (although she's also allowed her awesome homemade cooked food that was prescribed for her).

Stella looks like a happy pup!

I'll check out the blogs you suggested.

We know Sue through her blog! The treats sound great. It's cold here too and nothing much to do except to try and stay warm. We'll check out your link...we could use some chuckles. We love that picture of Stella with the snow on her face..it's perfect! Lots of love, Holly and mom

Those cookies look and sound awesome! Maybe we can all crowd around her and give momma "The Look!" It is dad's late night at school so she has LOTS of time!

Hi Stella
Thank you so much for posting such a yummy recipe. We in this household (well, Gail, anyway) indulge in the activity of 'bad weather baking' and I think it is about time that some dog-friendly recipes were included in the programme.
We had a quick look at Derfwad Manor - Gail seemed to like it. Personally I think it might be a 'girl thing'!

PS We love the header - just beautiful

THOSE COOKIES LOOK GREAT, GOOD ENOUGH TO EAT. I AM GOING TO ASK BRENDA TO MAKE ME SOME.
WE CAN NOT UNDERSTAND PIP GOING INTO WATER, WE DO HAVE TO BE CAREFUL WHERE WE TAKEHIM. IF THERE IS A RIVER HE HAS TO STAY ON A LEAD.

They sound like tasty treats! And Stella, to answer your question, Zimmie will always be my bestest friend, but now I have a special boyfriendcat too. They are very different.

Hi Stella, yes we know Sue and we are ashamed to say we haven't been over for ages.
We will woof to the human who seems to have her mind elsewhere these days other than on our blog!
These biscuits look very yummy and we will take a look at the site - we have to tell you that our mum is a terrible cook.
So far we have only eaten something she made with peanut butter and porridge oats - even those we weren't too keen on!
Much love

WARNING FROM MOM:

I have been reading Derfwad Manor for a while and found it a bit risque at times, but because I am quite a liberal person, took no offense. However, the last one has a lot of comments that are filled with the F word we all know (or most of us do) and if that offends you, please avoid Derfwad and pardon me for sending you there. I meant no offense at all!

Cheers,

Jo, Stella's liberated Mom

Stella, I bet you would be a gentle and caring gerbil keeper. It is ok to leave nose prints on the glass while you watch but no growling! How would Ali feel about such an addition? Sometimes Kitties and gerbils do not make very good friends. Momma said that If Michael allows it and he carries me down the steep stairs which I do not like that sometimes I can go and check up on Shadow (who lives in his bedroom).
