Doggie Addictions and SNOW

For those of you who read The Thundering Herd's entertaining blog, you are aware that one of the redheads, Cheowah, has a mighty addiction to Sliding in the snow.  Now to me, its not so bad, keeps the girl nice and clean, smelling fresh, she just isn't able to STOP herself from doing it..

In the interest of fair play, it only seems right to say that Stella has a fairly addictive winter habit too.  That is, when the snow gets deep enough, she can't keep her NOSE out of it.  Now she could pretty much hide this addiction except that she goes around with a white ring around her nose whenever she is outdoors.  Its like a messy eater with gravy stains down the front of them, everyone just Knows where it comes from.

In fact, we won a contest and the winner was given a beautiful handmade ornament of their dog and we even ordered Stella's with a snow ring around her snooter.

We don't know if we should try and find a doggie support group for her, but its like Cheowah in the sense its a clean habit, and she is more than happy with her snooter in a snow bank.  How do you feel about it?

We are like you, more than busy for Christmas, yesterday was such a pretty day with heavy hoar frost on the trees and bushes.

Even our little dinky back yard looks pretty with the hoar frost decorations!  Whenever I try to get Stella's picture, rooting around in the snow, she makes a bee-line for the porch and sits there like its Good Girl Time.  Daft Dog as Grumpy Bobby would say!

Thanks to all of you who wrote some Christmas Memories on our last weeks blog.  I'd love to see more!

I have one more thing from my childhood, teenhood, that I just loved.  When our City workers put up the  Christmas Decorations years ago, they would string evergreen garlands across the street, from one light post to the other, then add a string of colored lights to it.  I loved it so much because it was pretty and it smelled so wonderful (fresh pine boughs, whats better?) and bright lights.  Now the City has bought plastic Christmas fixtures that go on the light posts and they are duller than dirt.  But I am sure they are big money savers both in worker's labor, and one time cost for the lights.  But Oh, how I miss the pine boughs and the lights across the street.  I wish they could afford to go back to the old way!

Happy Weekend to you all, thank you for putting up with my Christmas Memories!

Cheers, hugs, and Merry Christmas,

Jo, Stella and Ali Zophia

We love hearing your Christmas memories. I agree, the new plastic decorations just don't compare.

I love the ring around the nos and the ornament is adorable. Morgan goes in for surgery tomorrow so Rob gave her a bath this afternoon. Then he let her outside and she immediately rolled in the mud. So he gave her a second bath. She should be nice and clean and sweet smelling for the doctor tomorrow.

Isn't Stella beautiful with snow on her! The snow against that black fur make a gorgeous picture! We wish the city here would go back to the ways of the past and do away with the plastic things but it looks like its here to stay. Nothing like it used to be though. Lots of love, Holly and mom

You are lucky you still get decorations on the light posts, the city doesn't do much here. But the neighborhoods do so much and it is so pretty to go for a ride at night.

We love Stella's snow ring - and her ornament is beautiful. We wish we had some snow to practice sliding our snooters in:)

The ring arond your nose reminds me of the "Got MIlk?" advertising campaign. Got snow?

I think it is wholly inappropriate, this idea of branding as an addiction this harmless habit of powdering one's nose with snow! After all, it's not cocaine is it?

Of course, being an enthusiastic snow snuffler myself, I might just be a tad biased.

Sadly, our snow is all melting just now.

Have fun Stella and don't let them tell you you're anything but perfect.

Oh Stella - we love the ring around the nose! Belated congrats on that cute wall ornament you won - adorable! Keep digging - we also love the Christmas memories; I agree - our town put up the most lovely real boughs from streetlamp to streetlamp all through the wintery streets. Wish we could afford to do that now. I guess we should count our blessings today; they actually put lights in the trees with an ornament or two on streetlamps - Bah Humbug!

Just ignore the naysayers, Stella! As long as you're not damaging your nose or skin, which it looks like you're not, there is nothing wrong with doing what comes naturally. Enjoy your snowy snooter!

Cheoah says she totally approved of the snow snooter!

Our time has these big snow flakes they post on the light poles. But the cooler part is the businesses on the road (we really only have one commercial road) have a competition to decorate. The result is a very decorated main road.

Likewise, our county seat's main street has these large lighted balls they place in trees and then the merchants decorate as well. Very light and festive.

The snow ring is adorable and clean!!!! You're such a cutie, Stella!

Yes, those fresh pine boughs would be so much nicer... Especially with hoar frost on them. Wow.

Stella the snow ring suits you I like the mini me with the snow ring.
Christmas decorations made at school and at home as nothing much could be bought or aforded. But what pleasure making all the streamers even all the things to hang on the tree.
