So Long, Suilish!

This is one of the dearest little dogs I have known in my life.  We called her Sulie,  and she just ran over with love for those she met along life's way.

She spent the first six years of her life in a Puppy Mill, having litter after litter of babies.  She was offered to us by Memory of Monroe Scottie Rescue and reluctantly, we took her.  I had been warned by friends that Mill dogs could be most difficult.  When we got her, she had some training in those everyday things that most dogs know about.  Then we tried to help her learn even more.  And she did learn, but more than that, she taught me about facing life.  She was so brave!  When in a situation that was new and a little scary to her, you could watch her take a deep breath and just do it!  She thought cuddling was the best thing in the world, good eats, and walks with her brother dog Otis. 

She loved to go walking, even in the snow, and she was so low to the ground, she would wind up with an under-tummy snow pack, which we would have to remove a few times on a long walk!  She just loved all kids, and when they would approach us on the street, she would just let them know she wanted to play!

One of my favorite memories of her is the first Christmas we had, very shortly after she arrived.  We went to my son and dil's home, about a dozen people there, and she was shaking!  She watched Otis and settled down in my lap, but then she took one of her big deep breaths, got down and worked the room!  Greeted everybody and then, came back to my lap, where she snoozed!  So brave!

Circumstances came along, where I could only have one dog, and since Otis was the eldest, I knew I had to keep him.  I wrote Jan at Scottie Rescue to ask if she could find a good home for Sulie.  Only the best would do.  Within half an hour, she had placed her with a great family that contained her mill brother Bailey, plus a gang of grandchildren! 

Jan came to get her,we said a sad goodbye, and it was so much fun to hear about her new adventures with her old pal Bailey and several kids.  She was in Heaven.

The little short girl developed Congestive Heart Failure, and this week, her happy life came to an end.  That is until she hit the Rainbow Bridge where she met lots of pups she knew. One very important one would be her dear buddy Otis who has been there for three years and I am sure knows Everybody!

This is just my little tribute to a very sweet little girl, who after she left the Mill, got all the breaks she missed out on .
