Its Me, Ali Z!

Happy St. Patrick's Day, all you Kitties and Pups!

Steve, Kat and Wilbur wrote that while Wilbur agreed with me (that he was a good kitty) Steve and Kat were offended.  Khyra also said that Wilbur is naughty and that their Mom is afraid of him (Khyra called him a furry monster.)  So I must say I am puzzled about this response.  I have no wish to offend anyone and will need to know more about Wilbur, it sounds as if he is a little manic!

KB wants to know how I learn so much about everything and if anyone has ever stumped me with a question.  I just try to learn things every day, I listen to the news, I use Google, but mostly it is my own good judgement that provides me with answers.  Are they right or wrong?  It depends on the questioner, doesn't it?

Maxdog of South Africa writes My question this week is What does the sunshine "Letsatsi" do for you?
Do you lie in it like me?   Dear Maxdog, yes, I love the sunshine and this morning you would find me on the pad on the livingroom floor, just basking in it.  We have had many grey days recently, so the sunshine is a gift to me.  My first family (this is my third!) declawed me, so I do not go outdoors and roam around.  Once in a while in the fenced back yard, but seldom. So laying in the sun fills me with warmth and love.  Thank you for saying you love me, because I love you too.

Dexter asks what is the fuss about eating rocks?  They satisfy and they come out all shiny.  I even think they would make a nice necklace for momma after they have been polished by my innards.  What do you think?  This is an easy one for me, Dexter, I think it would be disgusting and I suspect your Momma would feel the same way.  Quit eating rocks, Dexter, this is furry, furry bad for you!

Gail tells me there is a poster in her local shop window about a missing cat "who answers to the name of Stalin". She was wondering what I would say about the possible psychological effect on a cat of being named after one of the last century's most evil and murderous dictators.    This is an interesting question, and I looked up Stalin the name, finding it means "Man of Steel" in Russia.  I also found several sports figures with the name Stalin (Stalin Motta, Columbian footballer, Stalin Colinet who had a six year career in the NFL, a Stalin in India, in politics and a former actor.)  So its the man who was evil, and not the name.  Perhaps Stalin the Cat is a Cat of Steel or perhaps he is an evil, murderous cat. Who knows.  Its interesting that the two Stalins I found were in the rough sport of professional football!

Mr. Koda MD writes, How would every kitty and pupper survive without my advice?  Uhh, I would say very easily, but we can hope that it might be helpful to a few!  Thanks for the compliment.

Dennis the Vizsla  says he can understand (?) I do not want to impose on my friend Bobcat Goldthwaite
but can I give Dennis Bobcat's phone number so he can call him and ask him to host the sunday awards and meme show himself.   Uhh, Dennis, I will check my Rolodex and see if I still have that number and get back to you.  In the meantime, I hear Nick Nolte is looking for pickup jobs.  Try him.

Until next week, send your comments to me, and I will try to answer your questions.  Thank you for writing.

Meow, meow,

Ali Zophia

Hi again, Ali Z. It's me, Mayzie. This was all very much good advice, as usual!

I just left a comment on Stella's post from yesterday about the census thingie. And it got me to thinkin'...

Those census peoples don't ask about 4-leggers. Just 2-leggers! That seems awful unfair since we're part of the family, too. Why do you think this is? And is there somebody we can write to about trying to get that changed?

Thank you, Ali Z!

Wiggles & Wags,
Mayzie

I thoroughly enjoy your column each week and Im so happy to hear that you also like the sunshine! Im trying hard to think up another question because I love hearing your answers! You certainly are a wise kitty.
This week, I have a personal question...Do you catch mice? And if so...Do you drop them on Mommy's bed for her as a treat?..and if so, how does Mommy react?

Lotsalicks and lotsaluv to a wise kitty!

Hi Ali Z
Such a full and informative post as always.
We enjoyed reading it.
We are worried that Wilbur may need medication!
We know you will find an answer to everything.
We are pleased to learn that you are now in your third time lucky forever home and we just know how happy you are.
We are so relieved about the cat called Stalin explanation cos we were worried about that.
In fact we now think that is a good name!
Looking forward to next week.
love

Dear Ali Z, Thank you for another fine column. I have a serious question. I've noticed that sometimes dog and/or kitty bloggers actually forget who they are while they're writing... and become their animal. Don't you think this is kind of weird and creepy? The animal is projecting the blogger's personality, not it's own. This would never happen to me because I do my own typing most of the time and when I don't, I make sure I proof everything that gets posted. I worry that other doggys and kitties may be suffering in silence while their owner/bloggers are just making stuff up to blog about. Question 2 - do you think the internet is here to stay?

As I've told you, Ali Z, I am jealous of your special post and I want to do my own version, but you are so good at it and every time I see your brilliant and funny answers I become intimidated and I put it off.

Oh Ali, you are so very wise. Can you tell me, what happened to all the fatty, fat, squirrels that were around a few months ago? All I can find are normal size ones...

Hey Ali Z., we all love the sunshine here too, especially Phantom. But we have had those same very gray days. They say tomorrow is going to be glorious and then maybe snow on Friday night. What happened to spring?

Happy St. Paddy's Day to you!

Hi Ali Z, and thanks for your thoughtful answer to my question. You might just have inadvertently reinforced a few prejudices I hold regarding 'American' football....
Cheers! Gail.

Thanks for the tip. I haven't eaten any rocks lately.
