Yes, this is what I want for my next birthday is a Scottish puppy. They would be lots of fun to play with
and maybe even they wouldn't mind the snow so much. I could be a good mother to one too, because I know how to take care of things, I have a soft mouth and I never, ever hurt my stuffees (well, just that one time.) I would make sure the puppy stayed where I wanted it to be, you know I am part Border Collie, and I know how to herd things and to keep things safe.
I like to take naps too, little puppies need lots of naps every day so they don't get too tired. This is just a perfect thing for me to have, don't you think?
I just can't wait for my birthday, now, I am sooo excited!

Stella, I definitely think you need a puppy for your birthday. What fun you'd have and Ali Z would have to get up high to protect that tail from tiny sharp teeth.

Stella dear, dearest Stella, of course you should have a Scottish terrier puppy (I am taking it that you would happily have either a Scottie - black or wheaten, or a Westie or a Cairn?)
I note that the problem of getting lost on the snow has already been raised. There is of course a simple solution, a nice bright jacket, perhaps red, with the young pups name embroidered on.
Now of course it would be very important to find a good Scottish name for the new pup. I really do suggest you consult someone who lives in Scotland on this issue (Me, for example!) In my experience, some of you fellow countryman have odd ideas on what is and isn't a Scottish name. (Gail has some friends in the US who called their daughter Zealon, saying it was Scottish, but neither she nor I nor anyone else we have ever asked has heard of that name here in Scotland)
Finally, as for reconciling Ali Z to the idea, you might point out that, at least at the puppy stage, Scottish terriers often bear a passing resemblance to a cat in the shape of the face - like the one in your picture, indeed.

Oh it'd be real cool if you get what you want for your birthday! On my 9th birthday, I did NOT ask for a puppy but I got one nevertheless.. now I am stuck with a little sister who is bigger and heavier than me, and steals all my toys!!
I think that a puppy would be the perfect gift for your birthday. And a small dog could be like a lap dog for you, snuggling up without taking up too much room on your bed.
Leave some hints around the house for your mom so that she knows what you want.
