A sad story and a scary story!

Hi all you Pups and Kitties:

Here is a picture of our dear friend Spencer whose life has ended.  He was old and full of troubles and ready to go.  He spent the last two weeks of his life on his Grandma's farm, where he was as happy as he could be, then he was helped to be on his way.  He was wrapped in his favorite quilt, and buried in a favorite spot by the river.  So long, Spencer, we will met one day at the Rainbow Bridge  and play zoomies again.

Yesterday, my Mom and I went for a walk in the afternoon.  We have a special walk we like to go on and when we start getting closer to home, we are near our library and court house.  Yesterday as we began getting near these buildings, a huge dog, my Mom thinks its part Newf and maybe Rotti, came bounding up to us, pushing us and being rude.  We tried not to be scared, but we both were a little, until the big oaf started doing Play Bows with me.  Then he would stand in front of my Mom so we couldn't get past him, she would shove him and take a few steps, but it turned out he was good natured enough and didn't want to hurt us.  But as we got to crossing the street, his partner came, and it was another very, very big dog, like a giant Chow and it was aggressive.  Then when this dog got a little aggressive, so did the goofy friendly one.  I went down on my back in submission because I am no fighter and especially not of two dogs who are so much bigger than me.  Just at that time, a small older woman came with a stick and leashes, and my Mom helped her get the Chow type leashed, she went to take it home and Goofy just followed right behind!  Whew!  We were both very relieved at that and felt good that it worked out all right.  I don't know what would have happened if the lady hadn't come for the dogs.  My Mom can't imagine how this tiny woman who looked like 90 pounds could manage a dog that we are sure weighed as much as she or MORE!  We were told some time ago by our neighbor who lives next door to these dogs, that they came from China, but we are not sure about that.  We have never seen them out on the street before so I expect they never get walked or exercised.  Not a good life for such big dogs.

Alls well that ends well!

Kisses, and happy Sunday to you,

Stella

We are so sorry about the loss of your friend. There is never a good time to lose someone you love - never.

Domi, the therapy dog, has passed to the Bridge this weekend. Our blog contains her last letter to her friends. Please come to visit. It would mean so much to our momma and then go to Domi's blog to offer condolences. Momma is crying a lot today.

That is too bad about your furiend Spencer. It is never easy to lose a loved one. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Why don't people understand that they need to keep their dogs on leash. We are so sorry you and your Mom had to deal with that. Our Mom goes nuts when a loose dog comes at us.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, the OP Pack

I am glad you were able to recognize that your friend had to go on his way - we humans have a hard time with that. I do wish he had a bit longer though.

Quite a close call on your walk, no? I would have been spooked too...

We get the same problem here sometimes, especially near parks and whatnot. Stupid people.

We are so sorry to hear that Spencer went to the Bridge. I'm sure that he is running free and playing like a puppy!

It was a furry smart move that you did. Sometimes I get scared and run to hide behind my mom and that just makes the mean dogs chase me.

We're so sorry to hear about Spencer. It sounds like he had a good life and he had you for a friend.

Loose dogs can be scary when you're out on a walk. I'm glad you and your mom are both safe.

I'm sorry to hear about Spencer's passing. At least his last moments on earth were peaceful and filled with love.

It's a good thing that lady came with leashes. It really makes my mom and dad angry when people are irresponsible with their dogs and allow them to run off leash. Even if they are friendly, a dog should always be on a leash for its own safety. I was jumped on by an off-leash and very aggressive German Shepherd about a week ago. Thankfully it ran away when my mom and dad screamed at it, but it was still a very scary experience. Irresponsible people like that shouldn't be allowed to own dogs as their lack of concern puts their dog and other dogs/people at risk.

It is so sad when a friend crosses over the rainbow bridge but it sounds like he had a great life on the farm..
That would be very scary indeed. I the Blueman had a rotti after mom one day and I grabbed him by the neck.. Luckily his master came and Mom pulled me off. I don't like other dogs after mom especially one that are not on leashes..
We aren't sure if your advise with the Pest will work, since she can't hear and she can't read... Maybe she will grow up someday and leave us alone? Well we can hope. But if she wasn't a pest she wouldn't be Callie would she?

Dear Stella,
I am sorry you lost your friend, and i am sorry you had such a scary experience :-(
There are lots and lots of dawgs out wandering where I live. Most of them are friendly or just let me go by without worrying me. But once a big dog ran up behind me and tried to take a chunk out of my bottom! Mumma saw it just in time and frightened him away. Its lucky because I have a very scrawny bottom and can't afford to lose any of it.
You are a clever dawg and did the right thing by being submissive.

smooches,
Mr Darcy
