Sunday Award!

Hi Pups and Kitties:

Look at what Dennis the Viszla dog gave me today. This is an award to go out to rescued dogs and I am certainly one of those. This is an original from Daisy Dog and was designed by the
Purple Hatter. Cool, isn't it ?

I have to give this back out to five other rescue dogs
and I am offering it to The Army of Four, because all four of those pups were rescue. One more, huh?
One goes to a guy who has sort of disappeared but I
do see him on other blogs now and then. His name is Ben the Rottweiler and when I first started on this blog, Ben was one of my first commenters and it was very kind because he had been abused and every thing was fine with him at that time. What I mean to say is he really encouraged me in a good way to blog and enjoy my new life.
Say, howabout the cute little redhead Sibe that the The Thundering Herd family rescued jus this weekend. She isn't named yet, but she is beautiful and she should have an award. DK, will you take it to her?

Thats all from me for write now. I hope you are all having a nice Sunday!

Kisses,

Stella

Royal Mail today!

Oh Boy, you Pups and Kitties, I got a Royal Mail today. That means Ludo sent me a package for some Royal people to deliver!

I knew the minute my Mom walked in with the mail, it was for me. I just could tell by the smell it was a toy from Ludo! Ah, I love that guy!

My Mom tried to take a picture of me trying to open the package but every time she clicked the Flashy Beast at me, I moved and no pics! But you can see me here playing with my new toy, its like a big drumstick with a squeaker in it. Oh, you know how I love squeaky toys! I might show you a whole picture of this toy later but for now I have to squeak it and play with it. THANK YOU LUDO!

Oh, also he sent my Mom a book about a dog named Amazing Gracie. He knows from reading this blog how much my mom loves to read so he sent her this special book. Sometimes she reads parts of books to me but I usually just falls asleep when she does.
So thank you furry, furry much to Ludo and his Mom and those Royal people for sending me this present. My Mom says a big Thank You too.

Happy Weekend evfurry buddy!

Kisses,
Stella

Something from Chester!

Hi Pups and Kitties:

That handsome rascal Chester sent me this note this morning:
He asked me to stop over to his blog and pick up an inspiring award. He said Ali Z and I inspired him to be more faithful in taking time to read our blog and all the other good blogs he can. He also said we inspired his Mom to get back to reading good dog books again. (She loved Merle's Door too and didn't want it to end). So here is this cute award and Thank you, Chester. We want to offer it to some special blogs that inspire us, like The Adventures of Max Dog, who has problems with his very expensive internet connection, but still daily sends posts of interest to all, and also Cloud the Wonderdog who is more fun than a picnic and inspires me to have more fun, too. I don't think there are lots of rules with this award, just pass it on to those who inspire you.
Yesterday, my Mom tore up our livingroom with the idea of rearranging it. She didn't quite finish it, so thats what we are doing today. Its cloudy and rainy, so there is not much else to do right now.
We wish you all a happy weekend!
Kisses,
Stella

Its Me, Ali Z!

Hello all you Kitties and Pups! Its Tuesday so its my day to paw this message to you. We have a lot to talk about today so we will get started!
We have some questions to answer, but first I want to tell you about what my Mom and I did last night. She has been looking at a blog called
Raffingora and while she liked what she read, she felt she was missing part of the story. So we sat and looked at everything from the very beginning. A beautiful big dog named Musole tells the stories, about two small lion cubs that needed to be hand raised and other stories of their life in Africa. We found this on Max's blog and it is most beautiful. If you have not been there, click on the name above and plan to spend some time, reading back from the very first post! You won't regret it and we bet you will love this blog as much as we do.
Questions! Last week Hamish, from Aberdeen, Scotland (he is a most special friend of Stella's).
He wrote: Well, I have the opposite problem to Dory. (Dory had a cat on her walk she wanted to play with but the cat ran away.) There is this cat we always meet on my morning walk and she always wants to play. I have to take evasive action, because I find cats scary, but she persists.
Any ideas on how to get my message across? Hamish
Certainly, Hamish! You should try very hard to get over your fear of cats. If she is approaching you, she has determined that you won't hurt her and that you are a good fellow. Perhaps you could just stop and talk with her for a very short while, tell her you don't have time for a long chat in the morning and then be on your way. She will probably be happy with that.
Let us know if this works, Hamish, and thank you for writing.
Cloud the Wonder Dog, who thought I was trying to hypnotize him with my eyes! Really, Cloud, that is not the kind of thing I do here. Perhaps it was a case of self-hypnosis and you just Thought it was me. Thanks for writing and heh, heh, write again!
Our very dear friend Huffle, who had been away for a few days said "Those dogs are funny, aren't they?" Oh, I should say so, Huffle, they are most "funny" or some other definition of funny! Have you found your parsley pot yet, Huffle?
A nice note from the bassetts, Martha and Bailey, who said "We like cats and love seeing them on the blogs!" That is very nice to hear, Martha and Bailey, and I thank you. Please write again!
Thanks to all who wrote me last week and I am very grateful for your questions.
Meow, meow,
Ali Zophia

A Fun Day!

Hi Pups and Kitties:

First of all, I want to assure Mango that I am not turning into a diva like Lacie or Asta. The dress you saw me in yesterday's post was done by Petey's Mom for me to wear to Petey and Rosie's big wedding and I just love it so I wanted to wear it one more time. Now I am packing it away! So, no worries about that!

Yesterday was a really nice day here, not too hot or anything so my Mom and I went for a long walk. We started out to just have a nice walk around town, but then Mom thought it would be fun to go to the lake. It is only a mile south of where we live.
The first thing you see when you get there is the Pavilion and the Marina.
Lots of boats out on the lake from
Spring to Fall, then it gets cold and they build little houses on the frozen lake and go ice-fishing!
People like to walk along the lake in the warm weather, its pretty and it smells nice.
I like to get in the water and splash around.
I have a water bucket on my porch and I stick my head in it and throw the water around . Thats what I did in the lake and it was fun. There were some little kids there laughing and then, they did the same thing!
Then we sat on the bench and grass and just got dried off a little. We visited with some peoples we didn't know and had a nice time with them.
Then we started out for home. I had such a good time I told Mom we needed to come here again, because its only a couple of miles for the whole walk.
Our town is a tourist town and the population doubles in the summertime. The worst month is July, its peoples everywhere and motor bikes and they shoot off fireworks and stuff like that. I don't want to come then, but August gets very
nice and September will be even better if it stays
nice out.

So for now, I say bye and have a nice
Sunday!
Kisses,
Stella

This and that!

Hi all you Pups and Kitties:

I counted up the responses on the Pin Brush, and out of 23, 10 said they either
didn't mind the brush or grooming in general and 13 of us said we could do with
out it forever. So I guess we who are against pin brushes are the Winners! You
pawrents should take note of who is what and groom those 10 guys (you know who you are), until your noses fall off, and us 13 should just be left alone to live
our lifes as we want to. Howzat then??? OK!

Max of South Africa wrote a furry, furry nice blog yesterday about how much he loves us all and how blogging is something furry special to him and his family. Go take a look if you want a pat on the back!

Go see that old boy Hamish too, today. You will never believe what he is doing!
Yesterday he was helping Gail do yoga, getting her postures just right and today? Unbelievable!

Be sure and check out Khyra as well today. She is showing off her floofiness and looking extra swell. But here is something you all should know about her. She is most generous to new bloggers who want readers and when I started almost a year ago now, she dedicated a whole day to me and my blog. Really helped me get started in a big way! She has done it for others too, and her Mom is big in transporting rescues on the weekends. Such a good girl! Such a good Mom!

Thats about it for me today. I got all dressed up just for this special blog!

Kisses,

Stella

My main enemy!

Hi Pups and Kitties: Maybe some of you know exactly what it is! Yeah, its the Pin Brush!

I used to could go sit by my Mom when she was at the 'puter or when she was knitting, or whatever, sit by her and get some nice pets and hugs.

But now when I do that, I get the Pin Brush! She never misses a chance to brush me and get some of my loose fur out. Well, sure, I am shedding a little, and she says ALLLL she does these days is brush me and vacuum the floor where my fuzz just falls.

I tell her, look, this is just me, I am a long haired dog, and the time of the year is right for this to happen. Don't fight it! But she just sighs, gets the brush out and has a go at me.

We will both be glad for winter to come and I can have my fur and she can have her time to spend as she wishes. My wishes are that she would lose the pin brush. Say, maybe I could do that for her, just find the waste basket and drop it in. Might work, what you say?

Anyone else agree with me about the pin brush as enemy?

Have a good one today!

Kisses,
Stella

Its Ali Z Day!

Meow Kitties and Pups,
How do you like my new picture? My Mom just loves it because my eyes look sort of blue/purple.
Last week I had some responses to my blog and here is one:
Dory said "Ali, you are a very nice kitty for answering all these questions. I have one for you. I see the same kitty every day when I go for my morning walk. I try to be friends with her, but she turns the other way. . .what should I do?"
Dory, some cats just never want to be friends with a dog, because of our personality differences. Sometimes food might entice her to stop and visit you. For instance, if you were to bring along a sardine or two, she could smell it and might like to sample it. If she won't stop, just leave it for her and she will probably come and get it as she sees you go. Or she might just continue to run the other way even faster. Who knows what her dog experiences have been? You will have to be very, very patient to make friends with this kitty. But how nice that you want to be! Thanks for writing!
Joe Stains sent me a letter that made me laugh. Joe said: " hmm, I never realized cats were so smart, maybe I should be more respectful. NAH! DOGS RULE, CATS DROOL."
Joe, I read the adventures of you and your goofy little brother so I know that now and then you dogs do have problems. However, I could maybe bring it to your attention that Big Dog Honey is having a Drooling Contest among her and her doggy pals. That is something you will NEVER find a cat doing, unless they are very sick. So much for that. Thanks for writing, Joe.
Stella is a little upset about her post of yesterday. I told her not to write it but she was so excited she insisted. She has never had a crisis of confidence, and has always felt very loved in our family (much more than me!) and on this blog. However whenever Mom has been asked what Stella is, she would always say Lab and Border Collie and now she can say Borador and some people might even know what that is! She just likes having one name, and that makes her happy. Like saying I am a mixed breed cat, I say I am a Muted TortoiseShell, its a nice name that describes me.
I hope you are all having a good week, and its so nice to have dear Huffle back, isn't it?
Meow, meow,
Ali Zophia

I Gotta Real Name!

You all know me as a mix breed Border Collie and Labrador Retriever. My Mom was surfing the net yesterday and she did some learning!
She learned in the world of designer dogs, I am called either a Borado or a Borador, and my mix is very pupular with peoples who want a good dog. Here is what one part said:
Lab Collie mix, probably one of, if not the most loyal breed of dog you will ever have the good fortune to come across. Not only are they loyal, but both Labs and Border Collie's are incredibly intelligent and have great temperments, making them perfect family dogs. They are lovable, and playful and are also very eager to please their owners.
Now is that nice or what? To say those nice things about my breed makes me feel furry, furry
happy. Here is something else they said:
Collies are very athletic and have great endurance, but a Lab Collie mix is slightly less energetic as well as being slightly less intense which makes them brilliant for an owner that wants a Collie but cannot dedicate as much time or energy to them.
Brilliant, did you see that? Here is somemore:
Not only is the Lab Collie mix obedient and very easily trained, they are also a bundle of fun and will provide any owner with hours of entertainment. They do not need as much exercise as purebred Collies but still need quite a bit, and obviously, the more exercise they get, the more beneficial it will be to their health,
Mom, did you see the part there about the more exercise deal? Good for me, good for you!
Experts believe that this breed of dog is one of the best working dogs in the world. They have become very popular among families and there is often a rather long waiting list for puppies
because of this. You should put your name down as soon as you decide to get one of these lovely dogs, otherwise you could be in for a long wait!
Thats me, I love to help and to go walkies! And their is a shortage of us. Lots of peoples want us for their dogs. Ah, and I thought all the time, I was just a MUTT! Whooo!
Kisses,
Stella the Borador

Why Kids Need Pets

This is a movie about why kids need pets. I like the little guy who sits in his high chair and zings Cheerios to his pup. Wish I had one of those!

Ali Z Answers Mail.

Hello Kitties and Pups:

I received several comments on my Cat Day post.

Cloud (what kind of a name is that for a dog?) asked Speaking of Days, do you think a whole day should be attributed to cats . . .I mean they think they run the whole world anyway (pondering).

Apparently Cloud, you don't understand much about cats. We actually should have an entire week dedicated to us with many events celebrating our excellence. And yes, we do need to run the world, although its unfortunate that we are so often held back. I wish Huffle were not away this week, he could probably explain things to you in simpler terms you might understand.
Uhhh, thanks for writing, Cloud.
---------------------------------------------------------
From Hamish in Scotland: To be honest, I am not that into cats, but seeing Stella asked I will
overcome my reservations, at least for today, and wish you all a Happy World Cats Day!

Hamish, I very much appreciate your words, Stella says you are a gentleman and a scholar and it certainly shows in your post. Thank you for writing me.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Hmm, this one is from Ludo in England responding to my saying that cats would make a better choir than dogs. He says, Ali Z, I has to disagree, I thinks dogs be better at making noise. Pepe (his cat) only meows when he is hungry and I makes all sorts of noises all the time.

I am sure you are right Ludo, that all dogs make are NOISES where cats SING. Perhaps your Pepe has lost her ability to sing, which would be most sad for her. If she ever seems sad, it is probably that she cannot sing for some reason. Thanks for writing.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The beautiful Princess Eva writes: Be careful! Some pups may think that your singing is the call of the dinner bell! Not me of course. I think I might like kitties if I ever met one.

Ah Princess Eva, you are so correct when you say you would like us if you were to meet us. I have read your posts and you seem like a very gentle soul whom I would love to meet someday.
Just don't chase us and we will get along fine. I am sure you didn't mean to suggest that some dogs might "eat" us which is most horrible to consider. You have to realize we are much faster than most dogs, we are skilled tree climbers, and generally much smarter than many dogs. So
that scenario is most unlikely. Thank you so much for writing.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Thats all for today. Thank you all for your mail and comments. Until next time, when I will be
happy to answer any questions you have, I am

Happy World Cat Day!

Hi Kitties and Pups!

We are celebrating World Cat Day here by opening up a can of tuna for Ali Z and cleaning the litter box. She'll like that. We have to go buy dog food today too, so we will pick up a new toy for Ali Z.

We found this video of animals singing on YouTube and I know you will like it, even though the cats are the biggest ones, I especially love the Lion singing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVM5xXbUOtY&NR=1

Yesterday, OP Mom said we should get Ali and her pals together for a sing-a-long but they really aren't ready yet. So Khyra sent us a good video to watch that shows exactly the kind of talent kitties have. Take a look at this.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6yzjDXp_og

Some furry, furry impressive young talent around.

So for today, give your kitty a big hug (or whatever affection they might tolerate) and enjoy celebrating a very important day. I wished Ali Z a happy day and she told me to Bug Off, so that is just what I did, gladly!

Kisses,
Stella

Its me, Ali Z!

Meow, everybody,
So you pups think you are good enough singers to have a choir. That is just the funniest thing I have heard for a long time!
Everyone knows that Cats are the REAL singers. I am going to get a cat choir together, and I am starting with Huffle and Wilbur. Any other kitties want to come, just say so!
We are famous for being great singers. Haven't you heard of the Broadway show CATS? It ran forever and companies all over the USA with wonderful cat singers. In fact, we cats could probably start our own show. We could show you dogs how its done.
Hmmmm, this is something to work on, Kitties!
Your friend,
Ali Zophia

Hi Pups and Kitties!

You all know Ammy, who got us all singing on Monday.

She is the chief meteorologist for the Army of 4 and one of my favorite pups.

She thought she would get us singing along with Frank Sinatra to When You're Smiling . . .and we all did. I got to singing so much, I was still singing yesterday and told you all so in my blog.

The funniest thing is that a whole bunch of you, said you were singing too, and that it made you happy.
You can just look at my comments from yesterday
if you don't believe me.

So what I think is that we should join up and form
the DWB Choir. We are so good, I don't think we need choir practice, do you? We could just jump right in and keep on singing.

Maybe now and then Ammy could come up with a new song for us, she is so good at things like that.

Oh, I just love to sing and I love that you all are singing along with what Ammy started. Just think if all us dogs and kitties all over the world would sing songs, nobody could be mad at us or anybody else. Just this morning, Max from South Africa is singing Oh What a Beautiful Morning!

So thanks, Ammy, lets just keep the music going!

Kisses,
Stella

C'mon sing with me, won't you?

A Mini Me in the Mail!

Hi Pups and Kitties: Do you remember when I
won a special prize on Life with Dogs, from Mr. Author and uhhh, Nigel. I won a little ornament especially made for me. My Mom sent Emily of Clay Greys this picture
of me, taken in the winter, on our porch. My Mom loves it because all winter, she says, I have a ring of snow around my snooter from sticking my snooter deep in the snow. I love doing that, too.

So here is the very good mini-me that my Mom can hang on the Christmas tree. Isn't it cool? Emily put a little scarf around my neck and gave me a little red ball to play with. Whoo, how very special!
I think Emily has dogs too, because I sniffed and sniffed the box and Mom didn't even think she could get it away from me.
So that was a fun way to start out Monday, wasn't it? I will give another big Thank You to Mr. Author of Life with Dogs, and also to Emily of Clay Greys for making this special present for me! You can find Emily at
claygreys.googlepages.com or email her at claygreys8@gmail.com . Maybe you'd like to hang your pups on the Christmas tree!!!
Kisses,
Stella

That rascal Dennis the Vizsla Dog gave me:

Hi Pups, Kitties, and is that Goat still around?

Dennis the Vizsla Dog gave me this award which means Your Blog is a Dream. . .How nice of you Dennis and this is what its about: I am supposed to give you seven beauty tips and then pass the award on to seven friends to offer their beauty tips.

1. My Mom says that Beauty is what Beauty does. That means be nice!

2. In the snow season, roll in the deep snow as much as you can and it will keep you smelling
nice and fresh all winter long. In the summer, go swimming. Try not to roll in intense smells
because that will make you stink and be unpopular requiring a major bath! Who wants that?

3. Eat good food and have your Mom slip a little fish oil or vitamin E in it now and then. This
will keep your coat nice and shiney.

4. Chew on raw bones every chance you get, this keeps the toofers nice, and if your pawrent
wants to brush your toofies with a brush, let them do it. It will only help you and make your
VET happy.

5. Be good to little people, even if they scare you. They just want to love you and pet you and
this kind of loving makes you prettier and more patient.

6. Eat as much ice cream as you can get your paws on. This has fat in it and that is another
thing that keeps your coat and nails strong.

7. Be kind to everyone you meet.

I am giving this award to Princess Eva, Brice, Khyra, the Army of 4, and that totals 7!

Kisses,

Stella
