Blog o' The Month

Since our weather is so crappy, nothing is going on, I feel I have to write something and there is one blog that just broke me up in a wonderful way this month. It is Army of 4's Dental Health Month blog, with illustrated canine tooth brushing by the ever dashing Zim. He looked so earnest in these great photos, ears sort of layed back on his head, eyes very intense.
http://armyoffourdigest.blogspot.com/2009/02/dental-health-month.html

Anyone who has ever tried to brush a dog's teeth will love and understand this particular event. Like me, they would wish their dog just half as well behaved as Zim.

Thanks Zim and Co., no prize here, no award at all, just from me, a big smile everytime I think of this blog post!

Friday Confession!

Hi Every Pup and Kitty:

I told a lie yesterday when I said I drawed that clock myself. I maybe could if I tried, but it looked like something I could draw, didn't it?

So I went back to Clock Link and found a tennis ball clock that I put up. I love to play with a tennis ball and I bet lots of you do too. So the truth is out and I am sorry for telling a lie to you. Mostly I don't tell stories so I got to feeling bad whenever somebody wrote about how nice it was. You are all good, true friends.

Someone asked about how Ali Z is . . .she is doing OK, just her usual stuff, where she skulks around, hides behind things, gets in my mom's lap, asks to have her bowl filled. She is a good kitty and I am trying my best to be her pal. I don't get what she loves to play with though. She plays with a rubber band, tosses it up in the air, runs after it. People say she shouldn't do that because she could choke on it, or she could swallow it, but mom got her when she was 4 years old and she had been doing it forever. Its her favorite thing and she doesn't get the thing in her mouth, just holds it by her little toofies and throws it around. Strange little critter!

Dannan's Mom is back and that is just the bestest thing I can imagine. Also Klaus, Bogart's Dad sounds like he is getting improved also. Hope and pray for those we care about!!

Have a good weekend evfurry buddy!

Kisses,
Stella

Not So You'd Know It!

So if you look at our picture, you will see a little kitchen window with a glass bird, but on the right, if you look closely you will see an icesickle hanging down. Out side of the window you might see lots of snow falling down, some several many new inches today to add to our already seventyleventy inches we have. So, the purpose of showing you this, is that my mom is calling that icesickle her thaw-o-meter. She will be able to just look at that, and tell if any snow is melting or not. Personally I think she has gone over the deep end.

I hope we get a thaw before its tooo late for her to come back!

I saw today that Khyra got some new toys called Khuz or something like that. They look cute and I only wonder if they have squeekers, which as you know is my criteria for a good toy. I might get one if they meet my squeek standard.

Did you notice the new clock we have on our blog? I drew it myself.

Kisses,
Stella

Tuesday and February is saying bye-bye!

This is what you would see on top of our 'puter. First its a gift from Khyra, a cute little Sibe, then its a little spotty pup, then (and you can't see this) its a black Scottie, then its a little Boston Terrier. So me and my mom think of you guys whenever we sit down to paw a few lines.
But right now, there just isn't much for us to talk about. We are excited that February is almost done and March will come with some springy weather. As of now though, we are still up to our ears in Snow. But today is supposed to be 35 degrees which my mom says will eat up some snow, but then the weather dork says on Wednesday we could get 4 new inches.
Now I know lots of you Sibes and Mals would really love this stuff, so you ought to plan to spend next winter here. Maybe I should set up a Northern Dog Hotel for you! Haw!
So for today, I am going outside now and then, and my mom is making some Kitty Hammocks for the shelter. They are pretty cute and snuggy deals for the cats who don't have homes of their owns.
So while we aren't saying much right now, we are thinking of you all!

Stella

Hi Pups and Kitties:

Yesterday my Mom was surfing around and found this story about how the Dog came to be. She says she is sure many of you have read it, but you might like to see it again.

It made us smile and we both got a laugh out of what the CAT said.

Happy Weekend to all,

Kisses,

Stella

Stella of the Arctic Circle

Happy Friday evfurry one! Today in lovely Minniesnowda, we are getting another umpty many inches of snow falling.

Huffle had a poster about his movie and mine is gonna be "Stella of the Arctic Circle" The Dog who rescues those who cannot plow through the deep snow. It will be a neverending movie of snow, cold, seals, poler bears and snow, snow, snow! My mom says I am getting shack wacky and that this is the time I have to show my inner strength. So, uhhh, I will.

Ali Z and I are doing pretty good. She is not eager to be with me, but she walks past me to get to our mom. That is something anyway. She also thinks she is very cool because she waits until I fall asleep and then she walks past me on her little cat feets and I don't wake up until my nosie gets a little sniff of her and by then, she is where she wants to be. So I will have to stay more awake and alert, won't I? But I do love my sleeps, just like the rest of you pups do.

My moms gonna bake a big batch of cookies for the snow plow guy, he is such a good boy!

So all of you, have a nice weekend. Our prayers continue for Bogart's Dad, and all others who are sick or hurting.

Kisses,
Stella, Girl of the North

A Sunny Wednesday!

This morning we got up to sunshine, which we haven't had for many days, fresh snow, and sun dogs! A freshly plowed driveway! Here are a few pictures to show you and this one is sundogs, we just love them. They come with below zero temps, but are like little rainbows on either side of the sun. A picture isn't like seeing them in person. But that is the way it is. Then we got fresh snow and our best pal comes and plows us out. Nicest thing there is not to have to get out the shovel and go to work! So it looks like a good day to us.

Ummm, Ali Z came down last night and she is still way mad at me and mad at my Mom, too. I guess she thinks my Mom should always protect her even when she doesn't see what happened. I will do better, and I promise that.

Hope you are all having a pretty, sunshiny day!

Kisses,

Worst trouble I ever was in!

OK, this is what happened. Ali Z was laying on the blanket you see there, and my Mom was gonna take some pictures of us getting along nice, and just then, Ali Z got up as if to leave and I sort of put my arm on her and then maybe I put my mouth on her head just a little bit. She screamed and ran off upstairs, my Mom yelled at me and said some really mean things about dumb things to do to Ali Z. Now I am laying around and feeling bad about what happened and Mom says Ali Z will probably take another 4 months to come downstairs again. She will probably never post again, and if she does it will be Cat swere words about me. I don't think I hurt her, I didn't mean to, I just didn't want her to go and for us to get a nice picture. Is that too much to ask for??? She can be so stupid!

So thats what happened tonight and my Mom is still mad at me, but it was Ali Z's fault for taking off when I wanted her to stay. I was just trying to help, thats all.

I'm going to bed. Trying to get that cat to behave two days in a row is just too much to ask for. So, sorry, Mom, but it wasn't MY fault not one bit!

Kisses,
Stella

People With Blogs

Hi there Pups and Kits, Its me Stella with some Sunday news.
I think I told you that my mom loves movies a lot and so she reads a page by a guy named Roger Ebert who likes to write about the new movies. He also has a blog where he likes to talk about everything and today he had a story about the Dogs he has had. Parts was kind of sad, but he is an older guy now and has had some health problems so he says its not time for a dog right now.
So my mom writes to him sometimes, and today she wrote to him about all the dogs who blog and what are some of the things we do. She told about the charity things we do and just the everday things. She also gave him the address of Dogs With Blogs so he could pick out some blogs to read. If he goes there he is sure to read about my guy Dannan, don't you think?
She also told him that the shelters are full because of the jobless and homeless thing and that she thought he should go find a nice pup!
Here is another good thing: Me and Ali Z the cat are doing just fine. She doesn't run all the time and get me excited, and we just lay around together like regular pals. My mom will put some pics of this up for Ali when she blogs on Tuesday.
Happy Sunday to all,
Kisses,
Stella

All I Do . . .

These are very boring days here in Upper Minniesnowda. Cold and icy, no good for walks. My mom got me a new squeaker toy, she says its a tiger so be careful! Haw!
We watched the Westminster Dog show and I felt sorry for those pudle dogs with the fancy hairdos, makes me sad to think they can't go running around or tear through a mud puddle if they want to. But maybe they are the kind who wouldn't want to. Who knows. The old guy that won Best of Show was alright, wasn't he. A 10 year old geezer dog that just plooped along. I bet all those young guys who were in the running felt jealous of him. I thought the huge Scottish Deer Hound was really something. Looked like a Horse! My mom liked the little Scottie to win, but no luck for her.
Then there is MangoMinster which I guess is still going on. I didn't even place in the herding group, but thats a dogs life, right? Mango is doing a great job with that show, isn't he?

My Mom is trying to teach me the kommand LEAVE IT! She watches Victoria and the Whisperer on TV and thinks that while she is not big on being a kommander, Leave It, would be very good for me to know. Since I am mostly a good dog and don't get into a lot of stuff, I think that this mostly has to do with . . .ALI Z! So when I get interested in what Ali Z is doing, my Mom thinks she could just say LEAVE IT and I would lose interested in the Cat. Haw! We will see about that. I am not one of those dogs who would stand on my head for a treat, so I can take it or leave it.

Our Town is having a POLAR Fest this weekend, where people can jump into a hole in the lake and submerge themselves in ice water. The proceeds go to a good organization The Boys and Girls Club which I would give my last dollar to just to not have to jump into the frigid lake. What about you? Would you do it? Yeah, I thought so. Dogs ARE smarter than peoples.

Happy Thursday to ya,

Kisses,
Stella

Monday, Monday!

This is me, Stella, lolling around on my mom's bed because we are having another round of bad weather (rain and ice!) which as we pups know is no fun to be out in. So, find a snuggy bed, right?
But then I got a sort of award from Beckett, who has been away due to his mom being sick (now better) and its called the Honest Weblog award from Beckett's World which you will find at http://adognamedbeckett.blogspot.com/ The rules:"When accepting this auspicious award, you must write a post bragging about it, including the name of the misguided soul who thinks you deserve such acclaim, and link back to said person so everyone knows he or she is real.Choose a minimum of 7 blogs that you find brilliant in content or design. Or improvise by including bloggers who have no idea who you are because you don’t have 7 friends. Show the 7 random victims’ names and links and leave a harassing comment informing them that they were prized with “Honest Weblog.” Well, there’s no prize, but they can keep the nifty icon. List at least ten honest things about yourself. Then, pass it on!" OK, so I will tell you ten honest things about myself.

1. I don't very often name other people to awards, only saying, if you want to do this, please do and say Stella sent you.
2. I hate peas.
3. I am scared of summer thunder storms.
4. I don't know when my barkday is, only my mom and I picked October 3, because thats my gotcha day.
5. I will not share my toys and the two times I did, they got sploded! No more!
6.I miss walking when its too cold, too wet, too icey.
7. I might want to live in a no winter climate where I could do walkies every day.
8.Dannan and I is sweet on each other.
9.I love all my friends on DWB (and Ludo is the sweetest!)
10. I can't wait to go lake swimming this summer.

So, Beckett, my friend, thank you for this award. Its fun to think about things and write them down. So, now I think I will go right back to mom's bed and snooze a little.

Kisses,
Stella

Exciting Friday!

Hey all you pupguys , girls and kitties. Here is some very exciting news I read about on Khyra's blog (I know, she is always the first with everything!)

http://mangosgreatadventures.blogspot.com/ When you look at Mango's blog, you will be just as excited as me, I bet. Something I have wanted to do for a long time!

Here in Minniesnowda we always wind up talkin about the weather, and today is no exception. The weather dork said that we were going to POSSIBLY get a big blizzard that will last from Sunday to Tuesday. He even called it a Weather Event, like its a much huger deal than usual. Then this morning the sky was bright and beautiful red color. But my mom wouldn't get dressed to go out and take a picture of it. (She doesn't have nearly the resolve of Mrs. Dughallmor or other skywatchers, which is toooo bad!) She just says her weather toe hurts along with her hands and that is a good enough forecast for her. So thats the story, either we will or we won't get some wicked weather! Wish us well!

The days go on with me and Ali Z. She lets me come close, then she runs! The French people call it detente maybe, thats what my mom said but I barely do english words anymore than french. Anyway, for right now its pretty peaceful and thanks to all of you who said this would happen. I appreciated your thoughts, especially Huffle, who never gave up.

Happy weekend one and all. with Kisses,

Stella

Semi Wordless Almost Wednesday

Here is Ali Z under the sewing machine. She sees me.

I come over to say Hi, Ali Z. and I do that by sniffing. She doesn't run, notice?

Here I do further sniffing, and she doesn't run, so I am SURE she doesn't mind it, even though she said she does.
She comes downstairs by herself, my mom leaves the gate open just a little, she comes to find us. She doesn't want us to think she likes me, but
I KNOW SHE DOES!!!! Woof, woof, woof!

Tuesday Early!

Okay, this is what it is like. I am being held by my mom, and having a nice time, THEN Stella comes along and sticks her icy nose right on my butt. And then that was so much fun, she is sniffing all up and down my back side and just bugging the daylights out of me. My mom says just let her do it and she will get it out of her system and quit. Well, I have news for you, Mom. She just gets far too excitable for me to want to be anywhere near her person at all. She just doesn't seem to have any control of herself. Maybe its a birth defect or something. But then she looks at my mom with this perfectly innocent look, like she thinks she is soooo misunderstood.
The other night my mom was holding me and brushing my fur (I am a muted Tortie and quite pretty.) and Stella comes up and starts with her sniffing. I turned around and looked at her, and she opened her maw wide and flashed her teeth at me, her TEETH! I was shocked and mom said she was just yawning. Oh yeah, just yawning, thats a good one.
What to do? I just have no idea except maybe to bring a huge cat with big claws in here and let it go after Stella. She might get over her bad ways if somebody gave her a lesson!
My report for this Tuesday.

Monday late!

Its pretty late for a Monday Blog but I been readin' blogs and makin' a
few comments and this is just fun to do. So I was feeling very sweet when I read the Dughallmor Beagles blog and they had this little award thing that said anybody could take it and so, because I was so much in this mood of lovin' my blog friends, I did take it.
So if you are feelin' this way too, just grab it and put it on your blog.
Yesterday we went for a little walk about but boy, it was so cold my mom didn't last too long. The temperature wasn't too bad, maybe 10 or so, but the wind was just wicked. It is supposed to stay this way until the end of the week at least. Way below zero F.!
Thats why the whole Groundhog thing just makes me laugh. It could never see its shadow and we would have winter until April sometimes . . .like 11 weeks. So thanks Groundhog, but no thanks!
I am thinking of little Ludo right now who walked around in his first snow today. He was so cute and so excited. Go see him if you haven't already!
All for now, Ali Z is sharpening her pencils I am sure, getting ready for tomorrow. I know what she is gonna tell you too, but it isn't all true.
Kisses,
Stella
