Momday, Momday!

Hi Pups and Kitties! Now that Laska is home we can all rest easier, can't we? That had to be a rough few days for a dog, but I hope people were kind to him along the way.

Last week Mango's Mom recommended this book for us to read and we want to recommend it to anybody who loves dogs (anyone like that here?) It is wildly funny, and quite irreverent in places. But we loved it! Mostly our books come from our local library and this one was no exception.

One part of it made me think of The Thundering Herd when they were rolling in some grassy scent: The main character in the book can communicate with his dogs and one of them was in a grassy area and said " Best taste in the world,"he said, pushing his head into a pile of dead grass. When he emerged, he was chewing contentedly. "Unidentifiable chewy thing that's been aging in dirt. I'd offer you some, but I'm not wired for sharing."

This book was written by Merrill Markoe who was once a writer for David Letterman.

Cheers and hugs,

Stella's Mom

The Rocky Creek Scottie Adventures are having a contest for their 100th blog and all you have to do is put up a picture of yourself with your tongue out on your own blog and let the Scotties know where to find it!
Mine is when my Mom wanted to take a picture of me and I just stuck my tongue out! Really a little rood, but what the hey!
Go visit the Rocky Creek Scotties and you can learn more about their contest.
Have a fun and pleasant weekend,

The Friday Roundup

Hi Pups and Kitties!

My Mom collects urls of blogs that she things are good and funny. This week she has three and that is enough to post.

Lots of you may know these pups but they were all new to me.

Both my Mom and I love movies so what do you think of this one, a reviewer!:

Doggie Blog Review with Sebastien and Susha

A pair of Jack Russell terriers review the latest TV shows and films about dogs.

My name is Stella, given to me by the infidels. I am a purebred Arabian Princess forced to live with a disgusting Kelb and his family. I frequently plot a regime change but thus far have been foiled.
(This reminds my Mom of the movies she used to go to when she was a kid!)

Princess the Pit Bull
http://princessthepit.blogspot.com/
I'm Princess and I am a Pit Bull. No, not THAT kind, I am the sweet, loyal , affectionate, playful, cuddly kind, and there's tons of us out there . . .you'll see!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think I have seen Princess around before, but she is very beautiful and deserves the attention of all. We hope you will look up some of these guys if they are new to you too.

My Mom wants to tell Mango's Mom that she is reading the book she suggested, Nose Down, Eyes Up by Merrill Markoe, and having many good laughs over it. Thanks for the suggestion.

Its been a sad week on DWB so lets try and have a good weekend.

Kisses,

Stella

Princess Dakota

Hi Pups and Kitties:
Like lots of you, we weren't lucky enough to know Dakota in person. But we did know a couple of dogs who suffered with Cushings and its a rough go for any dog, no matter how big or strong they are.
So everyday, when we'd check the dog blogs, we would wonder "How is Dakota today". Sometimes she was doing just OK, and other times she was having difficulty getting along. She was brave and strong and carried on the best she could. That made both me and my Mom feel happy for her.
Then, too many things went wrong, and she couldn't get around, she went to her Vet and Dakota's Mom wasn't encouraged.
So now Princess Dakota is at the Rainbow Bridge waiting for the rest of us. We send her blessings for her courage and the good life she led.
We will miss her everyday when we read the blogs and wish she could have stayed longer, but we know she just couldn't.
So, goodbye for now, Princess Dakota, and we will see you someday again.
Kisses,
Stella and her Mom

Mostly Babies

Hi You Pups and Kitties:

Yesterday on our walk, we went past a driveway where a Mom
and her son had two little Golden puppies out. Of course, we didn't have the flashy beast along! The two little puppies were about 8 weeks old, and one was brave and one was shy. The brave one walked right up to me, and started sniffing. I got a good laugh out of that little guy sniffing me, and I did him too.
I wish we had a baby puppy here, they are so nice!

Then for you Pups who don't know how to properly hold a hu-baby here is a photo tutorial that should help you.:

http://joyerickson.wordpress.com/2009/06/17/proper-hugging-of-a-baby/

The dog in this one looks like Mango's Uncle Bob or something. I am not sure I would want him picking me up!

I hope there is some news of Laska today. We are all worried about the runaway Sibe.

Happy today everybody, know I am thinking about you all!

Kisses,

Stella

Sunday, Sunday!

Hi Pups and Kitties!
I worked hard yesterday and I got the day off today! Here I am snoozing with a bone at the ready if I wake up and feel like a chew. My Mom says if I didn't show my teeth no one could tell which end was which!
The weather guys are calling for rain, all day and in the night tonight, so maybe not even a walkies today.
I got a comment from the Thundering Herd and DK that said something about if Ari was a canine naturalist, I would be a canine Urbanist.
That is definitely true, DK, since I love Keith Urban and listen to his music every chance I get. I bet Ari would be an Urbanist too, if he listens to his radio or has any CDs of Urban. Keith Urban came to a music festival in my town a couple of years ago. Everybody was in a hub-bub looking for Nicole. Ah well, now we are clear about that.
I hope evfurry body has nicer weather than we do, although yesterday was just perfect. Know that I am thinking about you all!
Kisses,
Stella

Working Dogs

Hi Pups and Kitties:

Its Saturday and some of us working dogs
got a job to do even if its the weekend.
Today I have to wait for Dave the mailman to
come and let my Mom know when he arrives.
My Mom is deaf so I help her with a lot of things
like this.

Then later, I will take a nap (a working dog has to keep rested up, you know!) and I will have another job for this afternoon, probably working outside, helping my Mom clean up the yard. Its going to be pretty hot today, so I hope we finish up early!

My Mom just finished reading Adventures with Ari, and she says it will always be one of her favorite books. Its lots of stories about Ari and her family, with very much scholarly stuff
thrown in to help us understand more about the canine world. A great combination she says.
Maybe someday my Mom will write a book about me. Well, it could be! Ari's Mom spoke about how happy a dog is to get out and walk and if you pay attention to what he/she is doing, you will get happy too. My Mom says she gets tickled at me because I love to pay attention to cars, trucks and motorbikes that go vroom, vroom!

Have a good rest of the weekend evfurry buddy!

Kisses,
Stella

Another Rainy Day!

Hi Pups and Kitties:

Its another rainy day, all cloudy and dark so my Mom and I stay in bed like the lazy critters we are. Mom is reading, almost done with Adventures with Ari which she says is one of the best stories of a dog and its family ever. Next she is starting A Three Dog Life which has lots of recommends.

So then I hear something! Our mailman comes very early every day, we are just a couple of blocks from the PO and I think its him. Mom calls him Dave and says he is the best mailman ever and has been our mailman for almost 16 years. But I gotta bark at him just a little, don't I? Besides it could be somebody else who needs some barking.

But no, its Dave the Mailman and he left us a package! Mom goes out to get it and I am pretty sure its more cookies from Happy Hearts. I didn't order them except in my thinking, but that could work, couldn't it? No, I am not out already but just thinking of the fuchure. But no, its for my Mom from her good friend in Kentucky. Its a beautiful handye tee shirt and my Mom loves it already. Maybe tomorrow she will take a picture of it for you. She also sent a bunch of movies which my Mom loves. I like some of them, if they have dogs barking, door bells or cows mooing. Mom says these are probably doorbell movies.
Kisses,
Stella

Another Surprise!

Hi Pups and Kitties:

Look what my sister Kylie sent me today! A nice little squeaker duck to play with. She also sent a rawhide and a meaty stick. Yummy, furry good.
She sent this because my Mom sewed her a scarf out of some material she had just for the fun of it and we didn't expect anything back for it. I been playing with it all day long and it has a really good squeaker in it to.

Tonight I was squeaking this duck and my Mom picked up another toy and started squeaking it and she said, I bet you think you're making music! I said, darn right I am!

What I wanted to tell you though (and especially
Kylie) is that my Mom and I were walking down
town and we were waiting for a light to change
when across the other street came a dog that
looked exactly like me and Kylie (who look
like we can be sisters so we say we are!). She
was bigger and older than us, so maybe she was
our Mother, we will never know. I just said hello
to her and she snuffed back at me. But it was kind of nice to see this old lady dog that looked
like me and Kylie! Maybe she is our gramma! We hope we have our camera with us next time we might see her.

I guess maybe some of you guys got upset with
Ali Z's post. She just doesn't have any tack at all. She thinks it and she says it. Although all the kitties agreed with her, Hamish didn't! He told about a cat that gave him a bloody nose! Now that would be something to see. Ali Z can't do that only with her hind legs because her first mother
had her de-clawed. Both me and my Mom think thats awful because she is pretty defenseless
except for her mean mouth! Lets see her insult somebody to death! haw haw!

About all for me! Here is our best wishes for a good week for everyone.

Kisses,
Stella

Its me, Ali Zophia!

Meow all you Kitties and Pups:
Nobody's got anything to say today, Stella is out barking at something, and Mom is busy sewing. I always have something to talk about.
When I read the dog blogs, I am always just amazed at how many people have dogs over cats! The dogs are usually endless trouble, pulling on the leash, running away, snitching food they are not supposed to have, getting sick over it, getting in fights, tearing up furniture, endless things like that!
Now me, I am an indoor cat, I like to take naps, to sit in the various windows in our house, to play with my toys, to eat and drink. Just a nice peaceful life, no trouble to anyone. Oh, sometimes I have to come get my Mom and take her to my room to show her my food dish is empty, but she always says Oh Ali Z, were you hungry and then she fills it right up to the top! She also keeps my litter box clean. Is that too much to ask? I don't think so.
You dogs could learn a lot from us cats, but you just seem to like TROUBLE too much. If you want to learn how to control your propensity toward trouble, just ask me, its easy and I can help you out. Not that I want to, or anything.
Have a Happy week all you Good Kitties and Pups,
Meow,
Ali Zophia

Spoiled forever!

Today my Mom and I went for a walk, and we ran into the FedEx guy who always gives me a cookie when he sees me. So today he gave me kind of a Milkbone cookie, and I was polite and took it, but then when he walked away I spit it out. My Mom picked it up and when we got to the library she gave it to me again, and I spit it out again. So my Mom thinks Happy Hearts have spoiled me forever for any lesser treat! When we got home she gave me a Peanut Butter/Banana and I ate it right up!

We also stopped at the Print Shop and the ladies were all excited to tell on me that I had visited them on my runaway yesterday. I took some petting and then flew the coop! I hope everyone I meet in the next few days don't have this story to tell. My Mom just shakes her head.

Its time for a nap now!

Happy Thursday to every pup and kitty!

Kisses,
Stella

Prizes all over the Place!

Hi there Pups and Kitties:
A lucky day for me today! Remember when Huffle had his contest about how you would be if you won some Happy Hearts Cookies? I won the Consolation Prize which was a whole box of wonderful Happy Hearts cookies. I got Sweet Potato, Peanut Butter/Banana and Salmon/Cheddar. Talk about yummy! My Mom let me sample one of each and they are all just delicious. The Salmon/Cheddar was my favorite I think, but I will have to do some more sampling to be SURE! I already wrote to Gerri of Happy Hearts, www.happyheartsdogcookies.com and told her they arrived in perfect shape and they are so very yummy. My Mom says they are made from the best ingredients but you should go look on Gerri's website and she will tell you all about them. All I can tell you is . . .YUM!
I know you all know I am on a diet, and I can only have two a day but my Mom says today was special since we are making up and all.
So I do want to thank Huffle for this prize, and what a great prize it is. I am so glad I got the consolation prize.
THEN, we looked at Eva-lution and I won a consolation prize of guessing Brice's weight! The OP's won the exact weight, and then their Mom wrote names of the rest of us guessers on pieces of paper, and Bricey picked mine. So I get a prize from them too. Bless that Bricey!
Whooooo! What an exciting day.
Maybe now that I am eating Happy Hearts evfurry day, I won't run off anymore. I am pretty sure of it.
Kisses,
Stella

I'm in Big Trouble!

This morning when my Mom opened the door to get the mail, she told me sit and stay like she always does, and I just took off! I ran as fast as I could with Mom calling me and right behind me. She caught me and grabbed my collar to take me home, and I don't know what got into me but I fighted her and took off fast again. A boy was trying to help my Mom but he couldn't catch me either. So my Mom just went home to get the neighbor to help in his car, and she said they drove all around and couldn't find me. So she called the Police and the Vet, and had to go someplace for a little while. When she came home she called the Radio Station and someone had called that they had me. So she got that number and the lady said she had took me to the Slammer! I wound up back in a cage again! So my Mom went to where the Slammer is and made arrangements to get me out. It costed her almost $30 bucks to get me out and let me tell you she is very angry at me, and is barely speaking at me. I don't know what came over me to do such a thing, but I just did it and now I am sorry. But at the time, it just felt so FUN! My Mom said I could have got run over, or in a bad dog fight or somebody would steal me, and she was crying. But now she is just plain mad! So I hope she talks to me at bedtime, but I won't be surprised if she doesn't.

You all don't have to write and tell me what a bad thing I did again, this time was the worst though. I'm gonna be a good girl from here on out and listen to Mom when she tells me what to do.

Sadly,
Stella

Lorenza, who always makes my heart smile

Hoover, the Battery Powered Dog who also makes my heart smile

Khyra who was my bestest friend from the beginning

Princess Eva and Brice who always have rare and wonderful moments on their blog

The OP Pack, Dakota, Thunder and Phantom, this is with special recognition to Dakota
who makes everyone's heart smile just by keeping on.

Nigel, who is the victim of his Dad's rowdy humor at Nigel, Sola and Co.

Max, who lives in South Africa with boarder dogs and survives!
and because I need ten, this last one is for the 'Sploring Wolfies that I love even though they
don't do awards. So, take it or leave it!
Lots more of you make my heart smile big time, so we could do three or four of these this week. Whaddya say?

Where I went on my bus ride.

Here I am on the bus! This is the only way to travel, I can tell you that. Windows all around you, even the back door has windows, and you can see everything there is! Sometime I am gonna take a long bus trip, many days away!

The next picture is where we went to. The Dughallmor's mom GUESSED it in a comment to me and she was right, even before I knew it. We are at the Detroit Lakes Animal Hospital .

Then, I got greeted by a nice person named Audrey. My Mom has known her for a long time and she made me feel very special to be there.

Then I got weighted by another person whose name I didn't catch. My Mom knew her from before and likes her very much. I like her too. But my weight is a big (get it?) problem.

Here I am in the room where the Doctor comes to examine you. Just hanging around until someone comes in.

Boom! Here is the Doctor. Her name is Dr. Kristen Anderson and my Mom says she is the best. We both like her very much. She checked me over pretty good and says I am in good health Xcept for my weight! She saids the diet food from the other store isn't going to do it so I got a perscription food to eat. I get so much in the morning and less at night. So I am giving it a try.
My Mom says she is mostly to blame because I don't get enough exercise!
They also put a needle in my foot, and sucked blood out of me. That is to tell if there is any heartworms in me. Oh yuck, I hope not. However, I didn't yelp or fuss about that at all. I was very good.
I was mostly pretty good, but sometimes when I see people I don't know, I just want to bark at them a little. Thats when Mom wishes Cesar Millan lived closer.
We are having trouble getting the pictures to go in the right place. So now I say bye.
Kisses,
Stella

We're going on a bus ride!

Hi Pups and Kitties: My Mom said tomorrow we get to go on a bus ride. Its the same bus my Mom takes shopping so maybe we are going to
buy some stuff for us. To ride on this bus, I have
to ride in a cage for a while until we get where we are going, then I can get out and walk. My Mom's cage was too little for me so we borrowed one from Glen (Spencer's Dad). He said Spencer didn't mind if he loaned it to us. To get me on the bus, I use a little elevator dealie, and I'm not supposed to get scared about it because it won't hurt me a bit.

My Mom won't say where we are going . . .maybe to a circus, or to swim in the lake! Anything !
This is so much fun to think about, I just can't wait!

I will let you know on Saturday what we do!

Kisses,
Stella

Reflections!

Hi Pups and Kitties: Here is an old picture of me when I first came here.
I got serious stuff to talk about today and here is a comment that started it:
From my dear friend Hamish who said "Oh Stella, I love you just as you are. Please stay true to your own sweet nature. Cheers, Hamish"
I have been thinking about being a Sibe, but sorry guys, I just can't do it, I like being the way I am too much. I admire you Sibes, but I like getting along with my Mom and being the way I am so, so much for changing my ways! I think you will understand.

Then I got a comment from my good friend Chester, who was complaining that his parents would not take him to a party. I told him to use the computer and order in. This is what he sent back to me " Hey, Stella! I just got your tip on ordering pizza and wubbas while the two leggers go to their party. Thanks for the great advice. I think I will get a pizza with everything on it and some more Kongs, and some more treats. Do you need anything? This is gonna be a great night! Thanks again, Chester" Now I am a little worried that Chester may have got into some bad trouble with his family. If I did that, I know I would be in trouble. I only told him this to make him feel better about being alone. I didn't think he would actually DO it. So here is where I say, Sorry, Chester, that wasn't such a good thing to tell you and next time I will be more careful with my advice!

Then the next thing is that my Mom spent much of the weekend in a clean up mode and I said so on the blog. Then The OP Pack commented and said this " Our Mom says there is lots to be cleaned out here, so if your Mom enjoys that sort of work, send her down or better still, come along with her and we can do zoomies in the yard while she works. Happy Sunday, The OP Pack." First of all, my Mom hates this kind of work which is why she is in the mess she is in, and while she would love to come and visit you (and I would love to zoomies with you) she said it would be a cold day in aitch eee double toothpicks (I don't get that, is it rood?)
before she would come and clean your house! So, so much for that.

I hope you all had good weekends. Lets just say, I had a thoughtful one, and I'm glad I am back to being me. Thanks, Hamish, you are the best!

Kisses,
Stella
